BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Augustana soccer senior Savannah Ellender has been honored by the NSIC as the Defensive Player of the Week the league announced Monday afternoon.
 
Ellender, hailing from Rapid City, South Dakota, helped the Vikings to a pair of shutout victories and scored the game-winning goal in the 2-0 win at Southwest Minnesota State. She totaled three shots on the weekend with all three landing on frame.
 
Ellender has been part of a defensive line that has not allowed a goal in the past three games and held Sioux Falls to just four shots total while SMSU recorded six shots.
 
Augustana is back in action Friday on its home pitch hosting Minot State. On Sunday, UMary comes to Morstad Field to face the Vikings. Friday's game is slated for a 4 p.m. start while Sunday's game is at 1 p.m.
