Guetter Tabbed First Team All-Conference

Viking Trio Named to Second Team

BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- Four Vikings from Augustana volleyball gained conference recognition as junior Maddy Guetter, junior Erika Bute, senior Payton Rosendahl and senior Avery Thorson earned All-NSIC honors announced by the league Thursday. 

Guetter was the lone Viking to be named NSIC First Team All-Conference, while Bute, Rosendahl and Thorson claimed Second Team All-Conference honors. This is the most All-Conference recipients in the Jennifer Jacobs era.

Guetter, hailing from Wabasso, Minnesota, has led the Vikings in kills this season totaling 332. She also broke the school record for kills in a single match (34) to upend Northern State in five sets. Guetter's performance made national headlines, being named AVCA Division II Player of the Week, along with NSIC Player of the Week honors. 

Six times this season, Guetter has accumulated 20 or more kills and on two occasions she recorded 30 or more kills. She also has had 10 double-doubles on the year. Guetter ranks fifth in kills per set for the NSIC (3.73) and 39th in the nation.

Bute, an Alden, Minnesota, native, has led the team in digs the past two seasons. This season, she is averaging 4.7 digs per set and has accumulated 20 or more digs on 12 occasions. Bute ranks third in the conference in total digs (459) and 55th in the nation.

Rosendahl, hailing from Fremont, Nebraska, has accumulated 10 or more kills on 12 occasions. She has garnered 58 digs and 48 blocks this season. Rosendahl has the second most kills for the Vikings this season with 241.

Thorson, a local of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, has set four career-highs this season with two against NSIC competition having 57 assists coming against St. Cloud State, 20 digs against MSU Moorhead. Although not an NSIC contest, she recorded a triple double against South Dakota Mines having 11 kills, 44 assists and 16 digs. She has also recorded 13 double-doubles on the season. Thorson ranks fifth in the conference in total assists (987) and 21st in the nation.

Augustana returns to the Elmen Center Friday and Saturday to finish regular season play. The Vikings will host Minnesota Duluth on Friday night, slated for a 6 p.m. start and host No. 12 St. Cloud State Saturday, at 5 p.m.
