NEW ORLEANS -- The Augustana cross country teams swept All-Region honors having all 14 athletes that raced earn USTFCCCA All-Region honors for the Central Region.
"I am very proud of each one of our athletes to accomplish an All-Region award,"Â
Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Tracy Hellman said. "This recognition is super impressive knowing that we were the only team in NCAA Division II to have every athlete that raced attain this very challenging honor.
"We have always stressed the importance of a team, and this is a great example."
Five teams in the country had all seven of their athletes (either gender) earn All-Region honors with Augustana being the only team to have both genders. The Vikings led all programs with 14 total honorees.
Earning all-region honors on the women's side, were Megan Means (2nd), Nicolette Schmidt (3rd), Patty Jo English (5th), Rachel Rairdon (9th), Rebekah Rairdon (14th), Haylee Waterfall (22nd) and Mia Salas (25th).Â
On the men's side, Ryan Hartman (4th), Austin Miller, (5th), Kray Person (7th), Alec Kray (13th), Evan Johnson (14th), Henry Klitzke (15th) and Matt Steiger (18th) all earned all-region honors.
The 2021 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships take place on Saturday, Nov. 20, in Tampa, Florida.
