SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The NSIC Preseason favorite Augustana women's tennis team opens its conference season Saturday at Winona State. Action begins at 2 p.m. Saturday in Winona, Minnesota.
The Vikings
Augustana, winner of 118-straight NSIC duals, has the Preseason Player of the Year in
Laura Arce Vieyra and the reigning NSIC Player of the Week in
Valeriya Monko. The Vikings are 1-1 on the young season, toppling Missouri Western 6-1 on Jan. 30 and falling, narrowly, to No. 15 Southwest Baptist, 4-3.
The Warriors
Winona State has not competed in nearly a year after the COVID-19 pandemic shut everything down in March. The Warriors were in the midst of a 10-4 season while owning a 6-2 NSIC record. This year, WSU was tabbed to finish third.
Beth Murman is the Winona State player to Watch after tallying a 7-10 record last season at No. 1 singles. She was 5-6 in NSIC action.
