Beagle Repeats As NSIC Swimmer of The Year

Augustana Places Fifth at NSIC Championships

WEST FARGO, N.D. -- Augustana senior Taylor Beagle repeated as the NSIC Swimmer of the Year and Swimmer of The Meet as the Augustana swim team placed fifth at the NSIC Championships. Beagle improved from last year's 75 points, scoring 76 points this year. 

Beagle, a native of Lead, South Dakota, won three events; the 1000-free, in a new NSIC record time, the 400 IM and the 1650-free. She also placed third in the 500-free and was part of the Augustana 'B' 400-free relay that placed 11th. 

Minnesota State won the conference championships with 1,033.5 points, Augustana placed fifth with 358 points. 

On Saturday, senior Merriam Hagadorn placed sixth in the 100 IM in a time of 1:00.01. Two additional Vikings, senior Micah Hudlet and junior Isabel Waite, garnered more points placing 12th and 13th with times of 1:01.92 and 1:02.09, respectively. 

The sophomore duo Alysse Grohs and Maddy Olson scored points in the 200-breast, placing seventh and 12th, respectively, in times of 2:25.67 and 2:28.52.  

Also scoring points for the Vikings were Kamryn Robarge scored points in the 100-free placing 10th in a time of 52.93, junior Hannah Oeltjen in the 200-back placing 15th in a time of 2:12.12 

Both the 'A' and 'B' teams in the 400-free relay placed 10th and 11th, respectively. 

The 'A' relay consisted of Robarge, junior Justine Stellmaker, senior Kelsey Gilbert, and sophomore Ruth Huffman coming away with a time of 3:38.02.

The 'B' relay consisted of junior Rebecca Schmidt, Waite, Beagle, and Oeltjen placing behind the 'A' team in a time of 3:39.04.

"What a great weekend of racing," said Augustana head coach Lindsie Micko. "We had so many great swims! The team spirit and support was great all week. I'm very proud of the team in all they have done this year.

"We will now wait to hear on NCAA qualifications and hopefully have a trip to Alabama in March."
