SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana track & field teams conclude the regular season Saturday at the SDSU Last Chance meet on Saturday in Brookings, South Dakota.
The Event
The Jackrabbits of South Dakota State are once again welcoming the Vikings on Saturday for the SDSU Last Chance meet on Saturday. This is the third time Augustana has competed at an event hosted by SDSU this season. Field and running events are slated for 1 p.m. starts inside the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex. Last Time Out
The Vikings had a record-setting weekend highlighted by two school records broken and an additional 17 times or marks breaking into the top-ten performance list.
On the women's side, the DMR that competed in the Sixth Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, Kansas, broke the school record in a time of 11.39.08 which also ranks third in the nation.Â
Junior Nicolette Schmidt, who was anchor leg of the DMR, also ran an open 3,000m the following day at the Ichabod Invitational running a new personal best 9:49.14 which is first in the conference this year and 23rd in the nation.Â
Freshman Caroline Sudbeck made her 800m debut in the SDSU Indoor Classic by running a time of 2:15.46 which is the fourth-best time in the NSIC this year.Â
On the men's side, the 5,000m school record was broken by senior Alec Kray at the Ichabod Invitational in Topeka, Kansas, running a time of 14:10.51 which ranks him 17th in the nation.Â
Senior Austin Miller lowered his mile time at the Ichabod Invitational running a time of 4:07.08 to improve to the best time in the conference this year.Â
Senior Tiegen Lindner's 800m time from the Ichabod Invitational ranks him second in the conference this year with his time of 1:52.74.
One Last ThingÂ
The women have been receiving national recognition from the USTFCCCA Ratings Index the last three weeks. Based on last week's performances the Vikings have moved up to number 18 on the list. Thirteen performances make up the team rankings.Â
