Augustana Men’s Golf Jumps to Sixth on Day Two of NSIC Championships

KANSAS CITY -- The Augustana men's golf squad jumped up two spots on day two of the NSIC Championships, moving from eighth to sixth place, Saturday at the Shoal Creek Golf Club in Kansas CIty, Missouri. 

The Vikings posted their best team-round of the season Saturday with a 302 (+18), improving upon their day one score of 314 by 12 strokes. 

Individually, Augustana saw four of its five individuals improve on the day. 

Yesterday's first-place finisher, junior Jacob Lee, turned in a day-two score of 76 and now sits tied for fifth place at the tournament with an overall score of 146. 

Fellow junior Hunter Von Bergen also golfed a 76 today and is tied for 20th with a two-day score of 153. 

Fellow junior Sam Sutcliffe matched Lee and Von Bergen with a day-two score of 76 as well. Sutcliffe shaved six strokes off of his day-one score (82 to 76) and is tied for 33rd place. 

The biggest improvement, and lowest round, of the day for the Vikings belonged to junior Alex Stanz. Stanz golfed a 74 in round-two Saturday, a 12 stroke improvement, and has a two-day score of 160. 

Freshman Spencer Wittstruck golfed an 83 on day-two after turning in an 85 on day-one. 

The Vikings return to the links Sunday for the third and final round of the NSIC Championships.
