SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- After having two student-athletes sign their National Letters of Intent to continue their athletic and academic careers at Augustana in the fall, head coach Danny Sinksen has announced the addition of two more freshmen ready to compete in 2021-22 for the men's golf squad.
Will Allen | Harrisburg, South Dakota | Harrisburg High School
Sinksen on Allen: "Will brings an unparalleled work ethic to the team. With his determination and strong will, he not only will put up solid numbers himself, but will likely make others around him better as well. We are lucky to have him as a Viking and look forward to seeing his career unfold."
High School: Allen will graduate from Harrisburg High School in May of 2021. As a senior, he was the No. 1 seed on the team and led his team with a 74.5 scoring average (tying the school record) en route to All-State and All-Conference honors. As a junior, Allen was also the No. 1 seed with a 76.6 scoring average (the team low) with All-State and All-Conference honors while breaking the school record for lowest round with a 67. He also earned All-Conference honors during his freshman and sophomore seasons while owning the team low average as a sophomore.
Personal: Allen was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to parents Sheri and Bill. He has one younger sibling and enjoys fishing, guitar, basketball and hunting. While at Augustana, he plans to major in biology with the hopes of attending medical school after.
Gavin Hibbert | Watertown, South Dakota | Watertown High School
Sinksen on Hibbert: "We are looking forward to having Gavin join the team. His ability has greatly improved in the last few years and I'm excited to see that growth continue. With hard work and discipline, he is sure to make an impact on this team and help propel us to the top of our conference."
High School: Hibbert will graduate from Watertown High School in May of 2021. He was a team captain during his senior season with a scoring average of 76.7 while winning the Arrow Award. As a junior, he logged a scoring average of 80.4 en route to MVP and team captain honors in addition to All-State and All-Conference accolades. He also earned All-Conference honors as a freshman.
Personal: Hibbert was born in Watertown, South Dakota, to parents Julie and Dewayne. He has one younger sibling and enjoys golfing, hunting, fishing and hanging out with friends. While at Augustana, he plans to major in finance.
