TEMPE, Ariz. -- Aleksandra Kistanova, sophomore on the No. 21 ranked Augustana women's tennis team, was named this week's ITA UTR Player of the Week the ITA announced on Wednesday.
The ITA UTR Player of the Week honors a collegiate tennis player whose increase in UTR rating throughout the previous week was indicative of his/her high level of performance, including notable wins such as clinching matches and upsets.
"I'm excited for Aleksandra to get the recognition and receive the National ITA UTR Player of the Week award," head coach Marc Kurtz said. "Alex has had a great spring for us and she's been doing great in both singles and doubles all year long.
"She clinched our team victory last weekend with a win over Northwest Missouri State."
Over the season, Kistanova holds a 14-2 record while predominantly playing in the No. 5 position where she holds a 9-2 record. When partnered with Emily Granson, the duo are 17-0 in doubles play and 16-0 in No. 3 doubles.
The Vikings claimed the NSIC tournament championship last week giving them the NSIC's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Regional. Augustana will find out its regional opponent on Tuesday. The NCAA Central Region Tournament is slated for May 7-9 in Edmond, Oklahoma.
