LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Augustana's
Torri Chute has been named a finalist for the Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II Freshman of the Year. The native of Woodbury, Minnesota, has already been named to the NFCA Central All-Region Team, D2CCA Central All-Region Team, NSIC First Team and the NSIC Freshman of the Year.

As the Central Region representative, she'll be on the ballot for the Division II National Freshman of the Year, announced May 26.

Chute is the region's leader in RBI with 58, a mark that ranks fourth in the nation. Her mark of 1.22 runs batted in per game is also tops in the region.

In addition to her .380 batting average, Chute is seventh in the region and 21
st in the nation with 15 doubles on the season. For the year, she totaled 57 hits, nine home runs, seven sacrifice flies while owning a .673 slugging percentage.

The catcher/designated player is eligible for the Freshman of the Year award due to the 2020 season being shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Augustana enters the NCAA Central Regional Thursday as the No. 1 seed in the region. The game, which is slated for a noon first pitch, will be played against the winner of Central Missouri and Southern Arkansas which is being played Wednesday.
