SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – For the third-straight year, Ashley Mickschl and Kendall Cornick have earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team. The pair of Augustana softball stars each earned the CoSIDA honor in all three years they were eligible.

Cornick, a 2020 Academic All-America honoree, owns a 3.94 GPA while she earned her degree in biology and psychology. Mickschl, a 2019 Academic All-America honoree, owns a 3.73 GPA while earning her degree in education.

On the field, the duo simply led the Vikings to a No. 1 national ranking for the majority of the season while winning the NSIC Championship and Central Region Champions.

Cornick, the NSIC Kelley Scholar Athlete of the Year, was a consensus First team All-America selection, earning nods from the NFCA and D2CCA while being a Top-15 Finalist for the Schutt NFCA National Player of the Year. The outfielder hit .453 with 78 hits, the third most in Division II. She also tallied 34 stolen bases, a mark that ranked second in the nation. She also set an Augustana school record with seven RBI in a single game, a feat accomplished on Feb. 26 in the Vikings' win over St. Mary's.

Mickschl was equally impressive in the circle for AU with a nation's best 27 victories. She led the NSIC and ranked third in Division II with 24 complete games. She tallied a 1.83 ERA and struck out 141 batters in 191 innings. She also allowed just 133 hits over the same span. On April 24, she could not have been any better in a win over MSU Moorhead. Mickschl tossed a perfect game while allowing just one batted ball to leave the infield. She was also a consensus All-America selection, earning nods to the NFCA Second Team and D2CCA Third Team.

As part of the CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 team, the duo now moves to the national ballot for Academic All-America which will be announced in late July.

The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. T
