AUSTIN, Texas – Augustana football student-athlete Eli Weber has earned a spot on the 2020-21 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America First Team while teammate Luke Fritsch is a second team honoree. This is both Weber's and Fritch's first honor as an Academic All-American.

The honorees mark the first time since 2017 that Viking football has multiple Academic All-America selections.

Hailing from Dawson, Minnesota, Weber is a nursing major while sporting a 3.67 GPA. On the football field, the senior-to-be is a First Team All-NSIC selection from the 2019 season where he started all 12 games of the playoff campaign at defensive back. He recorded four interceptions and was credited with 13 pass breakups, a mark that ranked second in the NSIC.

Weber is the only NSIC student-athlete to have earned first team honors.

Fritsch, a senior from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, holds a 3.81 GPA while majoring in biology. In the 2019 season, he appeared in 11 games while tallying three interceptions. He recorded 31 tackles throughout the season with 21 of which being solo.

Fritsch is one of four NSIC student-athletes on the second team.

As a team, the duo helped AU rank fourth in the nation in scoring defense and 10^th in the country in total interceptions in that same 2019 season. The 2020 season was canceled due to COVID-19.
