TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has selected both the Augustana men's and women's tennis teams to the All-Academic Team the association announced Tuesday.
Along with the team award, six Viking women were also selected as ITA Scholar-Athletes in Florentia Hadjigeorgiou, Margarita Chouliara, Rebecca Falkner, Laura Arce Vieyra, Aleksandra Kistanova and Grace Goble. On the men's side, Tyson Cowger, North Knewtson, Jakson Stoutamire and Tory Shafer were named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirement: have a grade point average of at least a 3.5 GPA for the current academic year.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements: have a team GPA of at least 3.2 or above.
In 2021, 711 Division II Women student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete and 104 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team Distinction.
On the men's side in 2021, 523 Division II Men student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete and 80 men's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
