SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana football team had two of its members named to the D2Football.com Preseason All-America Team announced Tuesday night. Defensive end Logan Swanson and kicker Luis Guarita earned the preseason honors joining the second team.
 
Swanson, hailing from Mankato, Minn., is a graduate student in his final campaign with AU. In 2019, he was a First Team All-NSIC South Division selection while tying the school record with eight quarterback sacks. He ranked sixth in the league with 15 tackles for a loss while recording 51 total tackles.
 
Guarita, hailing from Sau Paulo, Brazil, earned an honorable mention to the Don Hanson All-America team in 2019 while ranking fourth in the nation with an 88.9 field-goal percentage. He tied the school record with 16 made field goals and had a season long of 41 yards. On kickoffs, he averaged 53.2 yards per kick.
 
The duo, along with the rest of the Vikings, open the 2021 season Saturday at 1 p.m. hosting Minot State in Kirkeby-Over Stadium. Tickets are available at GoAugie.com/Tickets.
