BEMIDJI, Minn. – Headlined by individual medalist
Natalie Young, the Augustana women's golf team opened 2021-22 with a win at the Tracy Lane Invitational in Bemidji, Minnesota, Tuesday.

"Our team started the fall season in winning fashion," Augustana head coach
Coralee Jorgensen said. "We came out a bit rusty with a 323 in the first round but finished day two strong with a 3-6.

"Natalie showed her perseverance by staying in the game and never giving up. Her comeback with a 72 after Monday's 80 was impressive. The entire team was energized and positive. I'm so proud of them."

Young finished the second round at 1-over-par with 72 strokes and totaled 152 strokes over the two rounds. The victory is the first over her career at Augustana.

Molly Stevens led the event after round one with 76 strokes and placed runner-up to Young with 154 strokes after shooting a 78 on Tuesday.

Hanna Morin placed in a tie for eighth place with 162 strokes over the two rounds.
Lauren Tims saw the best round-to-round improvement in the field as she placed in a tie for 11
th place. Tims saw a 14-shot improvement to shoot a 76 in the second round.

Closing out the team scoring was
Masy Mock in a tie for 21
st with 170 strokes. Competing as individuals,
Shannon McCormick placed seventh with 161 strokes while
Rachel Halvorson totaled 167 shots to tie for 13
th.

Augustana claimed the team championship by 18 strokes, ahead of Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State who each tied for second. Augustana tallied 323 shots in the first round, starting day two in a tie with Minnesota State, before taking 17 strokes off its score on day two for the 629 total.

The Vikings are back in action on Sept. 25-26 at the Mustang Invitational in Marshall, Minnesota.
