BROOKFIELD, Ill. – Augustana football had two members named to the 2021 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America Team announced Monday morning.
Blake Larson and
Kyle Saddler both earned an Honorable Mention to the teams.
Â
Larson, hailing from Brandon, South Dakota, was an All-Region honoree by the Conference Commissioner's Association and a First Team All-NSIC South Division honoree. The offensive lineman protected a quarterback that was sacked less than 0.75 times per game, a mark that led the country for nearly the entire season. Larson started all 12 games and helped block for a rushing attack that finished the regular season ranked in the top-45 of the country with 177.5 rushing yards per game.
Â
Saddler, a native of Frisco, Texas, started all 12 games at quarterback for the Vikings and ranked fifth in the nation with 38 passing touchdowns. He ranked eighth in DII with his 3,408 yards passing. The First Team All-NSIC South Division honoree threw for more than 300 yards in five games and threw three or more touchdowns in eight games including a six-touchdown game at Bemidji State on Sept. 25. He concluded his career second on the all-time passing yards list with 10,380 yards passing while completing 770 passes.
Â
Augustana concluded its season with a 9-3 record while advancing to the NCAA Division II Playoffs for the second-straight year.
Â
The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988.
