ROME, Ga. – Augustana women's tennis student-athletes Florentia Hadjigeorgiou and Senem Ocal wrapped up their fall season in doubles action over the weekend at the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia.
"I'm really proud of Florentia and Senem," said head coach Marc Kurtz. "We've only played together as a doubles team for a month and I feel like our doubles chemistry on the court is improving and we are getting better every match that we play together. "
The duo opened play against Azusa Pacific on Thursday, falling 6-3, 6-1. On Friday, the doubles teammates fell 7-5, 6-4 to UIndy. On Saturday, Hadjigeorgiou and Ocal faced the doubles team from Indiana (PA) and finished the tournament with a strong win 7-6 (7), 6-0 (4) over the pair.
"Whenever you're at the national tournament every match is difficult and to finish with a win is a great feeling as we head into our off season." Kurtz added.
The women's tennis team will continue its season in the spring when the Vikings look to claim their 13th-straight NSIC Championship.
