SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana volleyball team had four of its student-athletes selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) to the 2022 Academic All-District team. The honorees for the Vikings are Erika Bute, Maddy Guetter, Kia Kriener and Avery Thorson.
 
The 2022 Academic All-District® Volleyball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late December. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include student-athletes who have reached at least sophomore academic and athletic standing at his institution, maintain a 3.50 or higher cumulative grade point average, and at least in his second academic year at the institution (first year transfers are not eligible) while being competing members of the varsity travel squad.
 
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
 
Erika Bute

• 2022 NSIC Libero of the Year
• Led the NSIC with 557 digs, an average of 5.06 digs per set
• Her 557 digs ranked her 31^st in the nation
• Will enter her senior campaign with 1,678 total digs

 
Maddy Guetter

• First Team All-NSIC
• Led the NSIC with 0.45 aces per set
• Ranked fifth in the NSIC with 3.56 kills per set
• Ranked sixth in the NSIC in total kills with 392
• Surpassed the 1,000-kill plateau and concluded her career with 1,098 kills

 
Kia Kriener

• Earns All-District honors for the first time
• Ranked third on Vikings with 3.26 points per set
• Ranked third on Vikings with 76 total blocks
• Ranked third on Vikings with 289 total kills
• Has totaled 338 kills over her three years with the Vikings

 
Avery Thorson

• First Team All-NSIC
• Achieved the NSIC's only triple-double in 2022 when she recorded 11 kills, 46 assists and 10 digs in the victory over Truman State
• Totaled 1,138 assists in 2022
• Concluded her career with 4,369 assists, ranking fourth all-time at Augustana
