No. 24 Augustana Swimming Places Third at NSIC Championships

Beagle Named Swimmer of the Meet

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Taylor Beagle was named the NSIC Swimmer of the Meet for the third-consecutive year on the final night of the NSIC Championships Saturday in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Beagle tallied 80 points as the high-point scorer as she led Augustana to a third place finish, its highest finish at an NSIC Championships in its six-year history.
 
Beagle would end up winning her fourth final of the week in the 1650 free, breaking her own meet record by swimming a time of 16:58.27. Leona Coha placed fifth in the finals for the Vikings with a time of 17:39.31. 

"We had an amazing week of swimming," said Augustana head coach Lindsie Micko. "Everyday we had great performances and I couldn't be more proud of our team. We are hoping we can get a few invites to the NCAA Championships to conclude our season." 

During the 100 IM, Isabe Waite and Anna Schmidt would place 12th and 16th, respectively, to score points for the Vikings. Waite swam a time of 1:01.15, while Schmidt swam a personal-best time of 1:02.57. 

Kamryn Robarge placed third in the 100 free swimming a NCAA 'B' Standard time of 51.59, earning All-NSIC honors. The Vikings would also see Makoa Montgomery score points by swimming 53.01 to place 15th. 

Nathila Silva would score 13 points for the Vikings during the 200 back by placing sixth swimming a time of 2:04.08. Anna Tindall and Elise Dygert would place 11th and 16th, respectively, to get points for the Vikings. Tindall would swim a time of 2:10.24 while Dygert swam a time of 2:14.19. In the prelims of the event, Silva set a school record in a time of 2:03.71. 
Nesrine Jelliti set a personal-best time during the 200 breast with a time of 2:21.13 to place fifth, a school record. The event would see Amaya Street finish ninth, swimming a time of 2:26.68 to score points for the Vikings. 

The final event on the night would see the Augustana 400 free relay team consisting of Street, Beagle, Montgomery, and Robarge set a Augustana record time of 3:30.10 to place fourth. Also the team of Libby Breckon, Tindall, Justine Stellmaker and Abby Nelson placed ninth with a time of 3:34.17 to score points for the Vikings.

The Vikings would break a total of ten Augustana records during the four day event. Those records would include 400 medley relay, 100 breast, 800 free relay, 200 medley relay, 200 free relay, 1000 free, and 200 breast, 400 free relay, 100 fly, 200 back. 

Beagle would also set a total of two NSIC Championship meet records during the four day event.
 
Augustana finished third in the event with 710.5 points, the highest the Vikings have ever placed in the championships. Minnesota State would win the NSIC championships with 1,079.5 points, while St. Cloud State would finish second with 892 points. 

The Vikings will now await NCAA Championship selections. The NCAA Championships take place March 9-12 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
