BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Augustana sophomore tennis student-athlete Florentia Hadjigeorgiou has been named the NSIC Player of the Week. The honor is the first of her career.
Hadjigeorgiou, hailing from Deryneia, Cyprus, went 3-0 at No. 2 singles while partnering with Valeriya Monko in No. 1 doubles, also going 3-0.
She defeated SMSU's Courtenay Leonard 7-6, 6-4, and Minnesota State's Avery Stilwell in 6-0, 6-0, fashion to remain undefeated at 11-0 in her NSIC career.
The No. 1 doubles team bested SMSU's Leonard and Kristina Vuksanovic. 6-0 and Minnesota State's Stilwell and Bryant-Otake, 6-4.
In nonconference play against Nebraska-Kearney, Hadjigeorgiou paired with Monko to win No. 1 doubles 6-2, along with besting Narindra Ranaivo in No. 2 singles by way of 6-3, 6-2.
The Vikings return to action hosting MSU Moorhead and UMary for a weekend of matches inside the GreatLIFE Woodlake Athletic Club. Saturday's match against MSU Moorhead is slated for a 6 p.m. start, while Sunday's contest against UMary will be at 9 a.m.
