SIOUX FALLS, S.D.--Augustana head soccer coach Brandon Barkus has named Ashley Haflett as the women's soccer assistant coach. Haflett joins the Vikings after two years as an assistant coach at Sioux Falls. Haflett is an Augustana soccer alum, having played for the Vikings from 2011 to 2015.
"I am absolutely thrilled to welcome Ashley back home to Augustana," Barkus said. "Since departing Augustana, Ashley has created a proven track record for success when it comes to recruiting, developing and coaching amazing student-athletes and I could not be more excited to have her come back to her alma mater!"
Haflett began her coaching career in 2017 at UMary in Bismarck, North Dakota, and spent just over a year with the Marauder's soccer program. In 2018, Haflett was an assistant coach for Missouri Western's women's soccer team where she assisted with the planning and implementation of team training.
"Ashley was a goalkeeper and part of the class that really propelled Augustana into being an established and reputable program," Barkus added. She understands Augustana soccer and its importance to our University and to the community.
"I know she will dive right into her work and I am looking forward to seeing her catch everything that is thrown at her!"
As a Viking, Haflett was the starting goalkeeper for three consecutive seasons and became the first Augustana goalkeeper to hold a winning career record. She earned NSIC Second Team honors for the 2015 season and holds the all-time season and career win records as a goalkeeper for the Augustana Women's soccer program.
Haflett earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in biology from Augustana in 2015 and added a master's degree in kinesiology from UMary in 2019.
