BURNSVILLE, Minn.  – Augustana University's JT Mix was voted by the league coaches as the NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year in baseball. A native of Farmers Branch, Texas, Mix is a fifth year senior majoring in business with a minor in sports management.

The "NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year Award" is presented to a NSIC Baseball student-athlete who participates at their institution for four years and is academically superior while making a positive contribution to their team and the University. The NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year award was initiated in 2020-21 to honor an outstanding senior that exemplifies the attributes of the model NSIC student-athlete.

In the classroom, Mix holds a 3.72 cumulative grade point average and is a three-time member of the NSIC All-Academic team.

Mix is a two-time NSIC Player of the Week during the 2022 season, helping the Vikings to the NSIC regular season championship.  A starter in all 50 games, Mix hit .338 with 31 RBI, 30 runs scored and held a .424 slugging percentage.  During his career Mix has been named to the NCBA/Rawlings NCAA Division II All-Region First Team, the NCBWA Central Region Second Team, the D2CCA Central Region Second Team and Second Team All-NSIC.  He was also a pivotal part of the 2018 NCAA Division II National Championship team, plating two game-winning runs during the postseason run.

When not on the field or in the classroom, Mix is a team and campus FCA leader, works as a fall league coach and has participates in multiple volunteering events each year.

"JT is the leader of our team and a highly respected student leader on the entire Augustana campus. He came north from Texas to play baseball and has been all in for the school, his teammates and our program from day one. He is a class act, a great guy and well liked by everyone who knows him. He has made the Augustana and Sioux Falls community better during his five years here," said Head Coach Tim Huber.

About NCAA Division II
The NCAA, the national governing body for college athletics, is a volunteer association of more than 1,000 colleges and universities that classify their athletics programs in one of three membership divisions. The 300+ institutions in NCAA Division II support a balanced approach in which student-athletes have the opportunity to earn scholarships based on their athletic ability, pursue their desired academic degree, and participate in all the campus and surrounding community have to offer.
