AUSTIN, Texas – Augustana's Henry Klitzke, Austin Miller, Rachel Rairdon and Rebekah Rairdon have been named to the CoSIDA District 7 Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country Team announced Thursday.
Klitzke, a business administration major with a 4.00 GPA, had a successful year on the cross country course and the track. The Sioux Falls, South Dakota, native was a part of the Augustana cross country team that won the NSIC Cross Country Championships, placing third overall. He also was a part of the NCAA Central Region Team Champion, placing 16th at the meet. Lastly, on the cross country course, Klitzke earned All-America honors with his 36th place at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships, where the team placed fourth overall.
During the indoor season, he set the NSIC record in the 3,000m at the NSIC Indoor Track & Field Championships, running 8:16.45 while also earning USTFCCCA All-Region honors in the 3,000m.Â
In the outdoor season, he was runner-up in the 10,000m at the NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Championships to go with his third-place finish in the 5,000m.
Miller, a business administration major with a 3.67 GPA, has left his mark in Augustana history with the outdoor track & field national championships still to be run. The Sioux Falls, South Dakota, native was a part of the Augustana cross country team that won the NSIC Cross Country Championships, winning the race in 24:48.7. He also was a part of the NCAA Central Region Team Champion, placing fifth at the meet. Miller placed 47th at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships, where the team placed fourth overall.Â
During the indoor track & field season, he was the national runner-up in the mile at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. He also ran the 800m leg of the distance medley relay, who placed sixth in the nation. Miller earned USTFCCCA All-Central Region honors in the mile and DMR, he also holds the school record in the mile, running 4:02.40 on February 12 at the 7th Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic.
Miller's outdoor campaign has been eye-opening. He ran the 10th-fastest time in Division II history, over 1,500m running 3:40.59 to lower his school record by over five seconds. His 1,500m time is the second-fastest time entered in the Division II NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Rachel, a spanish, modern foreign languages, accounting and finance major with a 4.00 GPA, was the Elite 90 award winner during the cross country season. The Fort Collins, Colorado, native was a part of the Augustana team that placed third overall at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships. She placed 45th overall at the national meet, placed ninth at the NCAA Division II Central Region Cross Country Championships. She was a part of the Central Region Cross Country Championship team and NSIC Cross Country Championship team.Â
During the outdoor track season, Rachel placed third overall in the 3,000m steeplechase running 11:02.30
Rebekah, a business & accounting major with a 4.00 GPA, was a part of the Augustana cross country team that placed third overall at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships. The Fort Collins, Colorado, native placed 14th overall at the NCAA Division II Central Region Cross Country Championships to help the team win the Central Region Team Championship. She placed fifth at the NSIC Cross Country Championships helping Augustana to an NSIC Cross Country team title.
During the outdoor track season, she ran a season-best time of 10:36.61 in the 3,000m steeplechase to qualify for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Rebekah also was runner-up in the 3,000m steeplechase at the NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 21 and 22.
