SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana football team will open the 2022 season ranked No. 25 in the AFCA, the American Football Coaches Association announced Monday. The Vikings open the 2022 year at Concordia-St. Paul on Sept. 1.
 
Augustana, the preseason favorite in the NSIC, concluded 2021 with a 9-3 record after going 9-2 in NSIC action to win the NSIC Championship. The Vikings advanced to their second-straight NCAA Division II Playoffs.
 
Earlier this month, the NSIC coaches voted Augustana as the NSIC favorites in both the overall and south division polls. In addition, Eli Weber was named the NSIC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
