SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Augustana volleyball returns to competition this weekend to host the Augustana Volleyball Classic at the Sanford Pentagon, taking place on Friday and Saturday.
The first match of the classic for Augustana will take place at 1:30 p.m. Friday against the Hardrockers of South Dakota School of Mines, followed by the Dragons of MSU Moorhead at 6 p.m. Augustana will begin its final day of the classic against the Bulldogs of Truman State at 1:30 p.m., followed by the Wolves of Northern State at 6 p.m.
In all, the classic will total 10 matches over the two days with game one each day holding a 9 a.m. first serve.

South Dakota Mines
The Hardrockers started their season at the Yellowjacket Invitational, hosted by Montana State-Billings this past weekend. They went 1-3 in the tournament with the lone win coming against UMary (3-1).
South Dakota Mines is led by Jacey Koethe with 40 kills and Anna Thomas with 60 digs.
MSU Moorhead
The Dragons were also part of the Yellowjacket Invitational and played to a 2-2 record in the tournament. The two victories came against South Dakota Mines (3-2) and Chadron State (3-1).
MSU Moorhead is led by Bridget Witzmann with 62 kills and Brooke Walthall with 92 digs.
Truman State
The Bulldogs started their season at the Missouri Southern Invitational, hosted by Missouri Southern. They went 0-4 in the tournament following a loss to Newman University (3-1) to close it out.
Truman State is led by Hanna Berry with 36 kills and Lexi Arnell with 66 digs.
Northern State
The Wolves started their season at the Oredigger Volleyball Classic, hosted by Colorado School of Mines. They went 2-2 and are on a two-game winning streak, against #19 UT Tyler (3-0) and Western Colorado (3-0).
Northern State is led by Sally Gaul with 42 kills and Madison Langlie with 39 digs.
Augustana
The Vikings wrapped up its season-opening tournament at the Dr. Steve "Iceman" Aicinena Invitational, hosted by Texas Permian Basin. The Viking went 4-0 to start off their 2022 season undefeated. The Vikings completely swept Friday with 2-0 wins over Southeastern Oklahoma State and the University of the Southwest. On Saturday, Augustana defeated Eastern New Mexico in a 5 set thriller followed by their fourth and final win of the tournament against the host team Texas Permian Basin in four sets (3-1).
The Vikings are led in both kills and aces by senior Kate Reimann with 40 kills and 14 service aces. Senior setter Avery Thorson leads the team with 129 assists, while senior Erika Bute leads the team in digs with 62.
One Last Thing
Four Vikings have accumulated at least 30 kills or more so far this season. Reimann's 40 kills lead the way for Augustana. Additionally Kia Kriener (38), Maddy Guetter (31) and Piper Asche (31) have also attained 30 or more kills.
