Colorado Springs, Colo. – In the snowy mountains of Colorado, Augustana hockey powered past Colorado College by a score of 4-3 led by multi-point efforts for a handful of Viking players. The win sealed an unbeaten weekend in the state for the Vikings who now hold a 3-2-1 record in their inaugural season presented by First PREMIER Bank / PREMIER Bankcard. Colorado College suffered its first defeat of the year, falling to 5-1.
A first period surge that carried into the second period and backed by a defensive third period secured the win as Augustana handed CC its first loss of the year.
The opening period got off to a hot start as
Ryan Naumovski tallied his second goal of the season off a redirection from the Tigers' netminder. Naumovski's opening goal came off a team-effort from
Jack Jensen and
Owen Bohn who worked the puck into the offensive zone to create the two-on-one play.
CC answered back with three minutes remaining in the first frame as Evan Werner potted one past
Josh Kotai from the hash marks. Augustana wasted no time to answer back as
Uula Ruikka rifled in a power play goal from the point as the Vikings skated into the locker room leading by a score of 2-1.
It didn't take long for Augustana to find its third goal of the night early in the second period as Ben Troubly ripped his first-career goal off a two on one opened up by a dish from
Quinn Rudrud off the boards.
Luke Mobley was awarded the first assist for his pass to Troumbly.
Mobley found the scoresheet once again as he tallied his first of the season, going top-shelf over the keeper's glove off a pass from Rudrud.
CC answered back to bring the score to 4-2 with just over five minutes to play after finding open space in the slot.
The third period scoring started early as CC found the back of the net just seven minutes into the frame off a five on three penalty kill for the Vikings.
Owen Bohn was assigned a five-minute major penalty midway through the frame but Augustana prevailed as the Vikings pulled away with a 4-3 win.

- After a CC goal in the late minutes of the first frame, AU wired in a shot from the point off the power play to skate into the locker with a one-goal advantage.
- The second period belonged to the Vikings as two goals outlasted CC's late second period goal.
- CC fought back to within one as momentum continued to shift back and forth.
- Midway through the third period, Augustana went on the penalty kill as Owen Bohn was assessed a five-minute major.

- In an effort to square the game, CC pulled its goalie with two-minutes to go but the last ditch attempt was unsuccessful as Augustana pulled out the win.

- AU stayed strong throughout the first as Uula Ruikka ripped in a shot from the point off passes from Simon Falk and Naumovski.
- Ben Troumbly opened up the scoring in the second period as he one-timed in his first collegiate goal off a pass from Luke Mobley. Troumbly's goal came off a battle along the boards won by Quinn Rudrud.
- Mobley found the back of the net 13 minutes into the second as he sniped in his first of the season from the slot.
- Zaccharya Wisdom found the back of the off a back-handed shot from the slot to bring the score to within two.
- CC netted its final goal early in the third as Max Burkholder scored on a five on three power play.
