SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – In a ranking of the top swimmers outside of NCAA Division I, Augustana's
Bryn Greenwaldt earned a mention from Swimming World Magazine recently. The Vikings' sophomore earned a No. 12 ranking from the publication that nears one million followers across social media platforms.
Â
Greenwaldt and her Augustana teammate will be in action over four days this week with the USD Long Course on Wednesday and the Augie Invite Thursday through Saturday.
Â
In the Swimming World Magazine article, Greenwaldt's freshman season was highlighted including her national runner-up performance in the 50 free at the NCAA Division II National Championships.
Â
Hailing from Foley, Minnesota, Greenwaldt earned a pair of All-America honors in individual swims and earned a pair of relay All-America accolades. The reigning NSIC Swimmer of the Year set a pair of school records at last year's Augie Invite, perennially a meet where many individuals are swimming their fastest times of the season. Greenwaldt set current school records in the 50-free (22.50) and the 50-back (25.43) at last season's Augie Invite.
Â
In addition,
Angelina Chan swam a school record at the 2022 Augie Invite in the 100 IM in a time of 58.19. In relay action, the 200 free and 200 medley school records were both set at least year's Augie Invite, an event that features 11 schools of competition.
Now in its third year of competition, the Viking men's program has eight of its school records set at the Augie Invitational with six of them occurring at the 2022 meet.
Jackson Dircks is the owner of two of those, having swam a 23.38 in the 50-back and a 50.04 in the 100-back.
Pedro Borin, the men's swimmer with all-conference honors, also owns a pair of those records, first a 20.58 in the 50-free and a 48.65 in the 100-fly.
Prior to the Augie Invite, the USD Long Course is a chance for a handful of AU swimmers to swim an Olympic time trials qualifying standard. The meet on Wednesday gets underway at 6 p.m. at the Midco Aquatic Center.
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the Augie Invite has a morning session with a 10 a.m. start and a nighttime finals session at 5:30 p.m. Diving will take place at the conclusion of the morning session on Thursday and Friday.
