Viking Hockey Prepares for Home and Home with Omaha

Sioux Falls, S.D. – Augustana's inaugural season is presented by First PREMIER Bank / PREMIER Bankcard as Viking hockey prepares for its first home and home series in program history.

Friday night's game will be in Omaha, Nebraska at Baxter Arena with puck drop set for 7:07 p.m. Augustana returns Saturday night for round two inside the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center with puck drop set for 6:07 p.m. 

The Mavericks
Omaha (6-3-1) is coming off a weekend split with then No. 3/2 Denver where the Mavericks fell 8-4 in Friday night's affair before winning 4-3 on Sunday. UNO and Denver saw a 19-hour intermission in Saturday/Sunday's game due to poor ice conditions. 

Leading scorer Ty Mueller has potted five goals and five assists for a team-high 10 points. The Cochrane, Alberta native is a fourth-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft to the Vancouver Canucks. Mueller rides a five-game goal streak coming into the weekend. 

Sophomore defenseman Griffin Ludtke leads the Mavericks with a team-high six assists after only being held off the scoresheet in three games. 

Fellow defenseman Victor Mancini mans the blue line with one goal and two assists for three points. The shutdown blueliner is a fifth-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft to the New York Rangers. 

The Vikings
Augustana (4-5-1) is coming off a bye week after a weekend split with Lindenwood. In the Vikings' split, Luke Mobley led the way with four points by way of two goals and two assists. 

The Vikings' have been off to a strong start on the penalty kill as they would rank fourth in the CCHA if they were official members of the league. Augustana holds a penalty kill percentage of .842. 

Callum Gau lit the lamp for the first time in his young collegiate career where he opened the scoring in November 10th's win over Lindenwood. Gau, a Camrose, Alberta native captained the Camrose Kodiaks in his final season in the AJHL. 

One Last Thing
Augustana has seen a slew of teamwork throughout the season as it has a combined 49 assists in the young season.
