SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The No. 13 Augustana women's swimming & diving team opens up postseason action Wednesday at the NSIC Championships. The four-day event takes place Wednesday through Saturday in the Hulbert Aquatic Center in West Fargo, North Dakota. MSU Moorhead will be the host of the event this year.
The swimming prelims will take place each day at 10 a.m. and the finals begin at 5:30 p.m. The schedule of events can be found here. There will be a free live stream and live results available at GoAugie.com/Live.
The top-16 finishes will score team points in the event. The top three finishers in each event will also be named NSIC All-Conference.
The Vikings currently hold 13 top-3 finishes within the NSIC. Bryn Greenwaldt currently leads the league in the 50 free, 100 free and the 100 back. Nesrine Jelliti holds first in the NSIC in the 50 and 100 breaststroke.
This season has been highlighted by Augustana newcomer, Bryn Greenwald. Greenwaldt claimed her mark in the history books by being the first Viking in program history to record an NCAA 'A' cut. Her historic performance occurred in the 50 free where she swam a time of 22.53. Greenwaldt also specializes in the 100 free, 50 back and 100 back, all three events she holds the Augustana school record in.
Kamryn Robarge, the NSIC Preseason Swimmer to Watch, brought her expected success to the Vikings this season. Robarge follows Greenwaldt in the 50 and 100 free standings; taking a second place position in the NSIC standings in the 50 free and a third place spot in the 100 free.
Another Viking who has created success for Augustana this season is Angelina Chan. Chan joins Greenwaldt as one of three Vikings to earn an NSIC weekly honor. She received her honor back in January after taking hold of four first place finishes in the 200 medley, 100 breast, 100 fly and 200 IM. Chan recorded an NCAA 'B' cut in the 50 free at the Augustana Invitational back in November.
Augustana welcomed four new individuals to the diving squad through Clare Duplissis, Maggie Szerlong, Kate Robbins and Hailey Handevidt. Duplissis was named the Vikings' Preseason Diver to Watch. This season, Duplissis saw personal bests in the 1 m dive with a score of 228.07 while also garnering a school record. Continuing success for the diving quad was Robbins who saw an impressive performance last weekend at the Coyote Invitational, where she broke the AU school record in the 3 m dive with a total score of 222.25.
One Last Thing
According to SwimCloud, the Augustana swimming & diving team is the top team in the NSIC entering the meet. In championship format point accumulations, the Vikings are slated in front of Minnesota State 622.95 points to 590.05 points. Augustana, who held a national ranking as high as No. 8 in NCAA Division II, looks to improve on its best NSIC Championships finish of third place which was last year.
