Augustana Men’s Tennis Prepped to Host Northwest Missouri State

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana men's tennis team is set to host Northwest Missouri State on Friday at 3 p.m. for the final home contest of the regular season at the Huether Tennis Centre.

The Bearcats
The No. 13 Northwest Missouri State enters this weekend's contest with a 12-5 overall record and a 6-0 record in MIAA action. The Bearcats collected three victories last week beginning with a 4-3 victory over No. 9 Ouachita Baptist. NWMSU then went on to defeat Emporia State, 4-0, and William Woods, 5-2. 

The Bearcats are led by No. 1 singles competitor, Andrea Zamurri, who holds an 8-4 overall record. Zamurri holds a 3-3 record against nationally ranked opponents and has a 6-3 record over their last 10 matches. In doubles action, NWMSU is led by the No. 1 doubles pair, Zamurri and Fillippo Piranomonte, the doubles pair holds a 3-2 record in dual action with a 1-1 record against nationally ranked opponents. 

The Vikings
Augustana enters this weekend's contest with an 8-9 overall record and a 0-3 record in MIAA action. Last week the Vikings defeated the Mustangs of Morningside, 5-2, following their win against Mount Marty, 6-1, the week prior.

The Vikings are led by No. 1 singles competitor, Henry Dornbusch, who holds a 12-5 overall record and is currently on a six game winning streak. In doubles action, Dornbusch is paired with Cade Damgaard to be ranked No. 32 in doubles action. The pair holds a 9-4 overall record with an 8-2 record over their last 10 matches. 

One Last Thing
This weekend will be the Vikings final regular season match before the MIAA tournament April 19-21 in Edmond, Oklahoma. Augustana is seeking its first appearance in the MIAA tournament to cap off its second season.
