BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Augustana women's tennis cleaned up the 2023 NSIC All-Conference awards securing eight accolades. The highlight of the awards came from Florentia Hadjigeorgiou who was tabbed the NSIC Player of the Year. Augustana newcomer, Senem Ocal joined in on the major honors, being named the NSIC Freshman of the Year.Â
Florentia Hadjigeorgiou was tabbed the NSIC Player of the Year for the first time in her career. Hadjigeorgiou also landed a spot on the NSIC All-Conference first team for both singles and doubles. Ending the season ranked No. 31 in singles action, Hadjigeorgiou secured a 13-2 overall singles record and a 10-2 record in doubles play. The No. 1 singles aided Augustana to its 13th-straight NSIC regular season title and 12th-straight NSIC tournament title.Â
Senem Ocal ended the first season of her Augustana career with a 15-6 singles and an 11-11 doubles record. The Istanbul, Turkey, native saw success in the No. 2 singles and No. 3 doubles slot for the Vikings and ended the season with a 26-17 overall combined record. to claim a spot on the NSIC All-Conference singles first team.Â
Joining Hadjigeoegiou and Ocal in the postseason awards, was the NSIC Elite 18 Women's Tennis recipient, Aleksandra Kistanova. Kistanova was granted a spot on the NSIC All-Conference First Team for both singles and doubles. Kistanova ended the season with a 12-3 singles and 18-4 doubles record. Kistanova was paired with Hadjigeorgiou in the No. 1 singles slot, with an undefeated 10-0 record.Â
Rounding out the postseason awards was graduate student, Laura Arce-Vieyra, and senior, Gabriela Jancikova. The No. 2 doubles pair clinched a spot on the NSIC First Team All-Conference doubles squad. The pair ended the season with a 10-1 doubles record winning nine of their last 10 matches. Arce-Vieyra also secured a spot on the NSIC All-Conference Second Team for singles competition.Â
