LOUISVILLE, Ky. –
Torri Chute has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA DII Player of the Week. The Viking softball designated player and outfielder earned the accolade after batting .556 over eight games including an 8-for-10 performance to topple Minnesota Duluth and claim the NSIC Championship.

Overall for the week, Chute accumulated 15 hits including four home runs, 12 RBI and owned a 1.037 slugging percentage. It's no secret that Chute is the front runner for the NSIC Player of the Year as she owns an average of .450 and a 1.286 OPS. She has totaled nine home runs and 17 doubles as part of her 67 hits.

Chute, hailing from Woodbury, Minnesota, is the fifth Viking to earn the NFCA Player of the Week joining Kaylea Schorr, Maggie Kadrlik, Kendall Cornick and
Mary Pardo.

The Vikings begin postseason action Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Rochester, Minnesota.
