Six Vikings Named to NSIC All-Conference Teams

BURNSVILLE, Minn.--The NSIC Champion Augustana baseball team saw six players named NSIC All-Conference, including five on the first team, the league announced Tuesday. In addition to the league-best five first-team selections, Augustana saw an All-Defensive Team honoree in Drey Dirksen. 

Nick Banowetz, First Team All-Conference
The Robins, Iowa, native earned the accolade after his first season with the Vikings. Banowetz has successfully stolen 24 bases this season. He is hitting at a .376 average with 50 hits, six doubles, two triples and 21 RBI.

Adam Diedrich, First Team All-Conference
Diedrich has had an excellent year on the mound for Augustana. He set a new single-season record for saves with 11 and is ranked second in the nation in that category. In NSIC action, he has recorded eight saves. Diedrich has tossed 25.2 innings and appeared in 20 games overall and 18.1 innings in conference play. 

Drey Dirksen, First Team All-Conference, All-Defensive Team
Along with earning first team honors, Dirksen was named to the 2023 All-Defensive team. He holds a batting average of .361 in NSIC play. Dirksen has totaled 43 hits, 12 doubles, eight homers and 35 RBI this season. The Spicer, Minnesota, native has scored 41 runs for AU and is 4-of-5 on stolen base attempts. Dirksen also owns a fielding percentage of .993 with 250 putouts.

Seth Miller, First Team All-Conference
Miller, from Blaine, Minnesota, is 7-0 on the hill, having tossed 45 innings in conference matchups. He has amassed 43 strikeouts and held opponents to just 11 walks and nine runs while he was pitching.

Caleb Saari, First Team All-Conference
Saari holds a record of 2-1 in NSIC action with an ERA of 1.95. He has struck out 29 batters and allowed just three walks in 27.2 innings. Saari also owns a WHIP of .74.

Jack Hines, Second Team All-Conference
Hines earned NSIC Second team honors for the second consecutive season. At the plate, he is hitting at a .371 average with 49 hits, nine doubles, five triples and three home runs. Hines is 14-of-15 on stolen base attempts and an on-base percentage of 1.048.

The Vikings travel to Bismarck, North Dakota, for the NSIC tournament as the No. 1 seed where they will face the No. 8 seeded Wayne State Wildcats in the first round.
