Vikings Cross Country closes out SDSU Classic

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana cross country teams competed against mostly Summit League talent on Friday at the SDSU Classic in Brookings, S.D.

Augustana placed fifth on the women's side with a total of 131 points. They were led by Caroline Sudbeck, who placed 25th with a time of 18:49.54 in the 5k run. Following Sudbeck was Taylor Melton, who finished in 27th after finishing in 18:58.26.

Packed behind them was Lindsey Young and Eleni Lovgren, who finished in 19:18.24 and 19:24.53, good for 34th and 35th place, respectively. Laura Thompson ran the race in 19:35.72, good for 39th, while Tenley Nelson finished 45th after finishing in 19:54.59

The men finished their 8k race in fourth as a team, closing with 138 total points. Colten Brand paced the Vikings at 25:01.52, good for a seventh place finish. Alex Otten capped his day with a 27th place finish, running the race in a personal-best 26:04.65.

Also finishing with a PR was Kadin Groen, whose 26:23.95 placed him 31st. Beau Brock closed his night in 39th place with a time of 26:43.23, and Daniel Street finished in 43rd at 26:47.84.

Both men and women teams will be off next weekend before heading to St. Paul, Minn., for the Roy Griak Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota.
