AUSTIN, Texas – Augustana football's
Peyton Buckley and
Mitchell Goodbary have been named to the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-America teams announced Tuesday.

Buckley earned First Team Academic All-America honors with his 3.72 GPA while majoring in physical education. Goodbary is a Second Team Academic All-America honoree with a 3.98 GPA in exercise science.

Buckley, hailing from Rice Lake, Wisconsin, was named to five different All-America teams in 2023 headlined by the AFCA All-America squad. He led AU with 78 tackles on the season while tallying three interceptions and nine pass breakups. A starter in all 13 games, Buckley was elected a team captain by his teammates this past season.

Goodbary, a native of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, earns his second-straight Second Team Academic All-America honor. The major academic award is the second of the year for Goodbary as he was the NSIC's Elite 18 as the top student-athlete in the league. He played in all 13 games while making 17 receptions at tight end for three touchdowns.

The duo make up an Augustana football legacy that now consists of 36 CSC Academic All-America honors.
