Viking Soccer Preps for Weekend Affairs

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana soccer (5-4-2, 4-2-1 NSIC) is set to play two NSIC conference matches this weekend. The Vikings host Wayne State on Friday at 4 p.m. on Morstad Field before finishing the weekend across town against Sioux Falls on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Wildcats
Wayne State (4-4-3, 3-2-2 NSIC) comes into the weekend after falling to Concordia St.-Paul last Sunday, 3-1. Alaina Sorenson leads the Wildcats with four goals and one assist for nine points. Paige Pemberton joins Sorenson with three goals and two assists for eight points while Maia Vacks has six points by way of one goal and four assists. 

WSC has scored conference wins over Southwest Minnesota State, Sioux Falls and MSU Moorhead. 

The Cougars
Sioux Falls (2-9, 2-5 NSIC) has two conference wins over MSU Moorhead and Southwest Minnesota State. The Cougars have dropped close matches to Bemidji State and Winona State. 

Hannah Welch and Mara Nelson have started in all 11 games this season and lead the Cougars with two goals each. Caroline Titze and Delani Daubman have stood between the pipes for USF and have each recorded one win. 

The Vikings
Augustana comes into the weekend after a thrilling 2-1 win over Concordia-St.Paul last Friday where the Vikings won the game in the final seconds of play. Audrey Parnell totaled two goals in the win en route to being named NSIC Offensive Player of the Week. 

Madelyn White leads the offensive power for Augustana with one goal and three assists for five points. Macie Haggerty, Ally Hamski, Avery Heinz, Morgan Mancuso and Parnell join White with four points each. 

Aaliyah Matthews has started in nine of Augustana's 11 games. Matthews holds a record of 3-4-2 and was named NSIC Goalkeeper of the Year earlier this season. She has recorded five clean sheets this season. 

Sierra Barkus leads the Vikings in shots on goal with seven.
