ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Augustana hockey team (3-2, 0-0 CCHA) fell to No. 12/14 St. Cloud State (5-1, 0-0 NCHC) by a score of 4-3 on Friday night inside the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
Owen Bohn and
Owen Baumgartner found the back of the net while
Josh Kotai moved to 3-2 on the season with 25 saves.
Augustana opened up the scoring 2:32 into the first frame as Bohn wired in his third goal of the season through the fivehole of the Huskies goalie.
Brady Ziemer and Baumgartner tallied assists on the opening goal. SCSU answered back seven minutes later with a goal from Nick Portz. Bohn regained the Augustana lead with 3:52 remaining in the first after he batted in a rebound from
Will Svenddal's shot. The scoring continued in the first period as the Huskies answered back to make it a 2-2 game after 20 minutes of play.
Nick Portz helped SCSU gain its first lead of the game 8:51 into the second period after he fired in a shot past Kotai's blocker. The Huskies continued momentum throughout the period and pushed its lead to two after Damion Gardner scored with just under two minutes to play in the second period.
Both teams shared possession of the puck throughout the final frame before Baumgartner recorded his first goal as a Viking with a wrist shot past the glove of SCSU's goalie. In a last ditch atempt, Augustana pulled Kotai with just over two minutes to play but the Huskies held on for the win.

- Ziemer and head coach Garrett Raboin returned to SCSU Friday night. Ziemer played three seasons with the Huskies, while Raboin was a two-year captain and former assistant coach.
- Simon Falk faced off against his brother Karl Falk for the first time. The brothers played with Alaska Fairbanks from 2021-23.
