WACO, Texas - The American Football Coaches Association announced Tuesday that Augustana head football coach Jerry Olszewski has been named the Region 5 Coach of the Year in Division II, as voted on by members of the AFCA.

The 2024 Regional Coach of the Year winners will be recognized at the AFCA Coach of the Year Dinner at the 2025 AFCA Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Jan. 13.

Augustana finished the 2024 regular season with an 8-3 record and will host Minnesota State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament this weekend. He becomes the second coach in program history to earn the honor, joining Mike Aldrich in 2010. 

Olszewski became Augustana's all-time winningest coach earlier this season and now has 82 victories while leading the Vikings. He also guided AU to a second consecutive outright NSIC title, the first team in program history to repeat as conference champions since the 1942 NCC Champions.
