SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana hockey (8-6, 5-3 CCHA) completed the weekend sweep over Northern Michigan (1-12-1, 0-7-1) Saturday night in Midco Arena by a score of 4-1. Four different Vikings tallied goals while
Josh Kotai turned away 29 shots as he moved to 8-4 on the season.
The weekend sweep marked Augustana's first over a conference opponent in program history as a full-fledged member of the CCHA.Â
Augustana jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first period as
Joey DelGreco popped in his fifth of the season from out in front of the net off a pass from
Brett Meerman. DelGreco's goal marked his third power-play goal of the season.Â
The Vikings continued to lay on the pressure in the second period as they jumped up to a 2-0 lead of off a tick-tac-toe effort from
Hayden Hennen,
Luke Mobley and finished off by
Quinn Rudrud who potted his second of the season. AU pushed its lead to three less than 30 seconds later as
Hunter Bischoff potted his second goal of the weekend after he skated through a jumble of NMU defensemen and deked Ryan Ouelette before he finished on the backhand.Â
It took 16 minutes of third-period action before Northern Michigan cut Augustana's lead to two as Brendon Poshak fired a wrist shot past Kotai for the first of his career. Zach Michaelis and Jakob Peterson set up the NMU goal. The 'Cats pulled Ouelette in the final two minutes of action but Augustana kept the offensive pressure going as
Simon Falk found
Luke Mobley who netted his sixth of the season.Â
