Augustana Hockey Hosts Bemidji State in Conference Play

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana hockey team (4-4, 1-1 CCHA) prepares for a weekend affair against in-conference opponent Bemidji State (3-4, 2-2 CCHA). Puck drop is slated for 7:07 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at 6:07 p.m..

Friday's promotion includes a cowboy boot koozie giveaway courtesy of JLG as Augustana hosts country night. Koozie will be limited so fans are encouraged to arrive early. Saturday's game will involve a teddy bear toss to benefit Sanford's Children's Hospital. Fans are encouraged to bring stuffed animals (with tags) to throw on the ice during the first intermission.

Series History 
This weekend's affair will be the second meeting ever between the two programs. The all-time series record is 1-1. Bemidji State opened up the first-ever meeting last season with a 5-0 win before Augustana answered back on Saturday with a 5-2 win. This will be the first time Bemidji State will play in Sioux Falls.  

The Beavers
Bemidji State comes into the weekend with a 3-4 overall record and a 2-2 conference record. The Beavers garnered a weekend sweep against than-No. 16 Minnesota State where BSU opened up Friday's game with a 1-0 win before falling 2-1 on Saturday. 

Goaltender Mattias Shool has been crucial between the pipes for Bemidji State as he holds a goals-against average of 2.24 and a save percentage of .918. Shool has two shutouts on the season. 

Jere Vaisanen and Carter Randklev lead the Beavers with four goals and one assist for five points each. Jackson Jutting has also added scoring depth for BSU with two goals and one assist or three points. 

The Vikings
Augustana returns to Midco Arena for the first time since early October after it clinched its first CCHA points in a weekend split against St. Thomas. The Vikings dropped Friday's affair 4-0 before it bounced back with a 3-2 win on Saturday. 

Freshmen forwards Joey DelGreco and Tyler Hennen tallied their first-ever collegiate goals on Saturday, Nov. 2, 3-2 win over St. Thomas. 

DelGreco played two seasons of junior hockey with the Wichita Falls Warriors of the NAHL and with the Chicago Steel in the USHL. The Grand Rapids, Minnesota native was named the league MVP, Rookie of the Year and was a Robertson Cup Champion during his time with the Warriors. 

Hennen played one full season in the NAHL for the Anchorage Wolverines where he tallied 15 goals and 18 assists for 33 points in 58 games. He totaled 302 points in 92 high school games with Kittson Central and is one of the all-time leading scorers in the stats of Minnesota for high school hockey. 

Goaltender Josh Kotai continues to man the pipes for Augustana with a 1.89 goals against average and .942 save percentage in seven starts. Kotai was named CCHA Goaltender of the Month and HCA National Co-Goaltender of the Month last week.
