Matsui Nets Game Winner in Overtime

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Augustana hockey team (10-7-1, 5-3 CCHA) downed Alaska Anchorage (4-12-3) Friday night by a score of 3-2 in overtime. Payton Matsui sealed Augustana's 10th win of the season with his fourth goal of the year in the extra frame.

Augustana opened up the contest seven minutes into the first period as Luke Mobley delivered his seventh goal of the season and first power-play goal on the year. Mobley's goal was delivered with a wrist shot off a pass from Owen Baumgartner. Augustana's momentum continued throughout the frame as it edged out the Seawolves in shots on goal 10-2.

The scoring continued in the second period but shifted in favor of Alaska Anchorage as Dimitry Kebreau fired in a wrist shot from the faceoff dot past Christian Manz's stick to tie the game at 1-1. UAA's offensive presence propelled as it took its first lead of the game with a slap shot from Connor Cole to make it a 2-1 game. Augustana answered back less than a minute later with a wrist shot from Easton Young who netted his first collegiate goal from the top of the circle off a pass from Payton Matsui

Both teams battled throughout the third period, sharing possession of the puck. In 20 minutes of action, UAA outshot Augustana 8-7. The Seawolves edged out the Vikings 16-7 on the faceoff dot but Manz continued to perform between the pipes to keep the game squared at 2-2.
