BROOKINGS S.D. – The Augustana men's and women's track and field teams had themselves quite the opening weekend as they competed at SDSU and out east in Boston, highlighted by a broken school record, broken collegiate record and provisional qualifying marks.

SDSU HOLIDAY CLASSIC
The Vikings collected a plethora of top-five finishes throughout the two-day competition in Brookings, including a stunning school record performance.

Andrew Martens ran the fastest prelim time and claiming the lone event title for the Vikings, winning the men's 60-meter hurdle final after clocking a 7.89, just .01 off of his personal best.

Nyanas Kur raced her way into third place overall in the women's 300-meter dash, clocking a new personal best of 39.74 to shatter the previous school record by over a second.

Trent DeCook took fourth in the men's 300-meter dash with his personal best time of 34.68, which now places him second in Augustana history while in the men's 400-meter dash, Jude Jarding ran a time of 50.00 flat to finish fourth overall.

Kadin Groen was third and Daniel Street was fifth in the men's 5000-meter run, clocking times of 15:08.96 and 15:22.08, respectively.

Jayda Becker and Ashton Massey each claimed fifth place finishes in field events, as Becker logged a leap of 17-06.25 in the long jump and Massey marked a 34-09.75 in the triple jump.

One squad of the women's 4x400-meter relay finished fourth place in 3:55.81, led by Maia Peterson, Kur, Becker and Ella Heinitz.

In the lone bout of Saturday action, Peterson won the women's pentathlon with her personal best 3610 points, which now puts her fourth on Augustana's All-Time list. Kylee Sallee finished right behind in second place with 3509 points and Massey was eighth with 2761 in her Viking debut.

SHARON COLYEAR-DANVILLE SEASON OPENER
Ryan Hartman and Ella Bakken traveled out east to Boston University, each competing in the 5,000-meter run. Bakken clocked a 16:55.40—a personal best time that is currently a provisional qualifying mark—for 115th place in the loaded field of competition.

Hartman went on to rewrite history once again, breaking his own South Dakota collegiate record in the 5k with a time of 13:46.54. The mark is a provisional qualifying time, a new personal best by over seven seconds and was good enough for 70th place out of over 200 athletes.
