Augustana Softball Begins Tour of Missouri Over Spring Break

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana softball team begins a trek across Missouri on Sunday, that will eventually end on Saturday in Kansas. The Vikings are at Drury on Sunday and Monday for a three-game set while then travelling to St. Joseph, Missouri, to face Missouri Western in a doubleheader on Tuesday.
 
The early portion of the Spring Break trip will have live stats available while live video will be communicated on a game-by-game basis. Current Record: 10-10

Schedule Note: The contests with AU will be the eighth and ninth straight home games for the Panthers, a stretch that has seen them go 4-3. Losses are to No. 12 Central Oklahoma and the NSIC's Minnesota Duluth, while the latest outing was a series split with Missouri Southern. Sophia Luetticke leads the team in batting average at .404 while Lauren Beieir has belted six home runs. Bailee Nixon is the top pitcher with a 6-1 record and 2.54 ERA.
 
Missouri Western
Current Record: 10-4
MIAA Pick: 5th
Schedule Note: Prior to facing the Vikings, Missouri Western will host Fort Hays State and Nebraska Kearney in a pair of MIAA games. Currently, the Griffons are riding a seven-game winning streak with the bulk of those coming in a sweep at the McKendree Invitational. Taylor Jones is leading hitter with a .345 average while no player has hit more than two home runs. Sydney Rader is the top pitcher in the circle with a 6-1 record and 1.39 ERA.
 
About the Vikings
Augustana is 8-6 on the year, essentially having played a glut of games after two week breaks. The Vikings are riding a three-game winning streak after toping Maryville (13-5), Northwest Missouri State (4-0) and Washburn (3-0) to close out the Washburn Invitational. While at the invite, AU also topped No. 18 Pittsburg State, handing the Gorillas just their second loss of the season.
 
Ashton Dorman leads AU in the batter's box by average at .350 while Kennedy Buckman has belted four home runs as part of her 10 hits. Gracey Brink, the owner of a 1.015 OPS, leads the team with 12 RBI.
 
Grace Glanzer continues to pace the Vikings' pitchers with a 5-2 record and 0.29 ERA over 48 innings pitched. Hailey Houston twirled a shutout her last outing and owns a 1.94 ERA over five appearances and 18 innings.
 
Up Next
Augustana will have a day off before opening action against Missouri Southern, Central Oklahoma and Pittsburg State to close out the spring break trip.
