SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana hockey (12-18-4) fell to the United States National Team Development Program Friday night inside Midco Arena by a score of 8-3.
Brady Ziemer faced off against his brother Brodie Ziemer in a family affair.
The Development Program jumped out to an early lead in the first period and carried its momentum throughout the entire 20 minutes of play. The US Under-18 Team led by a 4-0 margin by the ending buzzer.
A five-minute major put Augustana on the penalty kill shortly into the second period, putting the U.S. on the man advantage. Cole Eiserman scored a power-play goal and helped push the Development Program to a strong lead going into the third period.
Owen Bohn opened up the third period with a goal from out in front of the crease. Bohn tapped in the rubber off a pass from
Simon Falk and
Luke Mobley. The Vikings continued to fire on offense as
Chase Brand scored a power play goal to cut into the USNTDP's lead. Augustana battled throughout the third period and outscored the Development Program 3-1.
