SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – It was another sweep for the Augustana softball team as the Vikings tamed the Wayne State Wildcats by scores of 8-0 and 16-2 Wednesday at Bowden Field. The doubleheader featured the first ever game under the lights at Bowden Field as the switch was flipped the second contest of the doubleheader.

Augustana improves to 36-13 on the year and 21-1 in the NSIC. Wayne State slips to 7-35, 16-2.

Game One: Augustana 8, Wayne State 0
Augustana plated four runs in the first inning and
Grace Glanzer cruised as the Vikings won 8-0 in six innings. The first run came on a single by
Kennedy Buckman to score
Andrea Cain. With runners on second and third,
Torri Chute picked up the RBI to score
Desi Cuevas.

The score moved to 3-0 with
Gracey Brink's single into center field and was 4-0 on Nicol Bellis' single up the middle.

That was more than enough for Glanzer as she picked up 11 strikeouts and allowed just two hits against zero walks.

Cuevas sent a home run over the right-field fence to also score Cain and push the score to 6-0 in the fourth inning. In the fifth inning,
Gracey Brink hit a home run to left field.
Â
The game-ending run came on a Cuevas double into right center to score Cain from first base.
Â
Augustana totaled 13 hits in the contest with Cuevas and Brink each garnering three hits. Cuevas also recorded three RBI as Cain scored three runs.

Glanzer improves to 17-3 in the circle for AU, an NSIC-best. Her 11 wins within NSIC contests are also a league-best.

Game Two: Augustana 16, Wayne State 2
Augustana scored in every inning it played offense en route to a 16-run performance. The Vikings plated two runs in the first, four in the second, seven in the third and three in the fourth for their 18
th-straight victory.

Desi Cuevas held a hot-bat as she went 4-for-4 with two home runs, six RBI and four runs scored. She was the first run across home plate as part of a two-run shot from
Kennedy Buckman in the opening inning.

In the second, Cuevas hit a bases-clearing double to push the score to 5-0.
Torri Chute sacrificed in Cuevas for the final run of the second inning.

The outburst in the third started with an
Andrea Cain grand slam.
Torri Chute followed suit with the four-base hit and AU led 12-0 with a runner on base. The final run of the third inning came courtesy of
Ella Cooper singling through the left side to score
Gracey Brink.

Cuevas then hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning as the lead ballooned to 16-0.

Wayne State did plate two runs in the top of the fifth, but the game concluded after five innings in the run-rule victory.
Â
Lexi Lander moved to 11-5 in the circle by allowing just a single hit.
Hailey Houston twirled the final two innings while striking out two.

Gretta Melsted will go for win No. 800 in a doubleheader at Winona State on Saturday. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. The following day, AU is at Concordia-St. Paul with first pitch slated for noon.
