SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Florentia Hadjigeorgiou was voted on by the league coaches as the NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year in women's tennis, announced by the conference Friday afternoon.

A native of Deryneia, Cyprus, Hadjigeorgiou is majoring in biology with an emphasis in pre-veterinary medicine and holds a 3.37 cumulative grade point average.

The "NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year Award" is presented to a NSIC Women's Tennis student-athlete who participates at their institution for four years and is academically superior while making a positive contribution to their team and the University. The NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year award was initiated in 2020-21 to honor an outstanding senior that exemplifies the attributes of the model NSIC student-athlete.

Hadjigeorgiou has played in the top two positions for the Vikings since her freshman season. She qualified for the Fall ITA National tournament twice (once in singles and once in doubles) and has been ranked nationally in both singles and doubles. She was named the 2023 NSIC Player of the Year and has been an All-NSIC first team performer in singles and doubles the past three seasons. She has also been named NSIC Player of the Week eight times in her career, including five times this season.

Off the court, Hadjigeorgiou created a Vet Club on campus and has volunteered at two vet clinics in Sioux Falls, helping and rescuing over 100 stray animals.

"Florentia has been a joy to coach over the years," said Head Coach Marc Kurtz. "I feel that she exemplifies what an outstanding senior should be. It starts with her being a captain and setting an example for our younger players on how to work at practice and how to carry yourself on the tennis court. She's a hard worker who is very committed to her tennis and her academics."
