SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana Vice President for Athletics Josh Morton has announced the winners of the 2024 Spring Semester of the AD's Academic Achievement Award. For the seventh-straight semester, the Viking men's cross country team earned the honor while the AU volleyball team garnered the award for the fourth time and second consecutive.
The award, first handed out in the 2020-21 academic year, honors the top men's and women's team GPA for each semester. The volleyball team boosted their cumulative to a 3.86 GPA while the men's cross country squad had a 3.56 GPA.
"Competitive excellence and distinction in the classroom are two of the pillars of our philosophy statement and I'm proud to have these two teams earning the award," Morton said. "I'm proud of all of our teams for the overall department GPA and for every single one of our teams that had over a 3.0.
"Every program competes at a high level in the classroom, so congratulations to men's cross country and volleyball for sweeping the academic year."
