Hockey Begins Conference Play on the Road

10/22/2025 5:00:00 PM

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana hockey team begins conference play this weekend as it heads to Bemidji, Minnesota, for a weekend series against Bemidji State. Friday's game is slated for 7:07 p.m., with game two on Saturday at 6:07 p.m. Fans can tune in on Midco Sports Plus.

The Beavers ended Augustana's 2024-25 season last March in game three of the Mason Cup Playoffs. The Vikings are 3-4 all-time vs the Beavers. The last time Augustana played at the Sanford Center, the series ended in a weekend split.

The Beavers
Bemidji State (2-4, 0-0 CCHA) are looking to snap a four-game losing streak after falling to St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth in the past two weeks. The Beavers opened up the season against Alaska Anchorage, where they secured a weekend sweep by scores of 9-2 and 5-0.

Freshman Max Vig highlights the Beavers' newcomers after he was drafted 209th overall (7th Round) of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. He is the seventh Beaver to be drafted into the NHL.

The Beavers were voted to finish sixth in the CCHA Preseason Coaches' Poll after garnering 54 points in the poll, and Isa Parekh was selected as a CCHA Preseason All-CCHA Team member.

The Vikings
Augustana (3-1, 0-0 CCHA) opened the 2025-26 home ice campaign with a strong all-around performance, sweeping No. 15/16 Arizona State at Midco Arena. The Vikings showed impressive depth, with multiple players finding the scoresheet and four skaters posting three-point weekends. Goaltender Josh Kotai anchored the pipes, stopping 44 of 48 shots, while the penalty kill stood tall—limiting ASU to just one power-play goal on ten chances and adding two short-handed strikes of its own.

Freshmen Jacob Jastrzebski and Leo Bulgakov have opened the 2025-26 season on a high note. Jastrzebski netted his first career goal in Saturday's 5-2 win, while Bulgakov recorded three points that included a multi-point game last weekend.

Hayden Hennen was named CCHA Defenseman of the Week, and Bulgakov earned Rookie of the Week after powering the Vikings past Arizona State last weekend.
