Viking Hockey Hosts Omaha in Non-Conference Action

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana hockey team (9-5-3, 6-4-3 CCHA) closes out the first half of the season as it plays host to NCHC opponent Omaha (6-10-0, 3-7-0 NCHC) in weekend action.

Series History
Augustana and Omaha have played a total of four times since the inaugural season in 2023-24. The Vikings were swept by Omaha in their first-ever series by scores of 5-2 and 2-1. In the 2024-25 season, Augustana swept Omaha on the road by scores of 2-1 and 4-0. 

The Mevericks
Omaha (6-10-0, 3-7-0 NCHC) comes into the weekend after being swept by North Dakota last weekend. Luke Woodworth leads the Mavericks with a total of 11 points by way of three goals and eight assists. Maxime Pellerin has tallied a team-high six goals for 10 points. 

Simon Latkoczy has manned the pipes for a majority of the season and holds a goals against average of 3.56 and a save percentage of .895.

The Vikings
Augustana (9-5-3, 6-4-3 CCHA) picked up five-of-six points in its weekend against No. 14 Minnesota State. Brett Meerman and Jacob Jastrzebski both garnered four points each. Junior captain Hunter Bischoff rounded out the top three point-getters with three points by way of one goal and two assists. The Vikings converted on three-of-five power play opportunities. Josh Kotai made 71 saves through 124:59 minutes of play and held a goals against average of 2.40.

Jastrzebski has emerged as one of Augustana's top offensive performers in the 2025-26 season, leading the team in points per game (0.82). He has recorded 14 points (5 goals, 9 assists) in 17 games. He was named CCHA Rookie of the Week after his four-point weekend against No. 14 Minnesota State.

Meerman has been a consistent offensive contributor for Augustana men's hockey since joining the program during its inagural season. Through the 2025-26 season, he has appeared in 80 career games, totaling 49 points (14 goals, 35 assists) with a 0.61 points-per-game average.

Kotai has been the anchor in goal for Augustana, establishing himself as the program's all-time leader in multiple goaltending categories. He owns school records for career saves (1,728), save percentage (.929), shutouts (4), minutes played (3,560), and wins (28)
Assistant coach Taylor Nelson will man the bench this weekend as head coach Garrett Raboin is currently with Team USA for the upcoming 2026 World Junior Championships.
