Hockey Opens New Year Against Colorado College

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana hockey team (10-6-3, 6-4-3 CCHA) opens up the second half of the season as it plays host to NCHC opponent Colorado College (8-7-3, 2-5-3 NCHC) in weekend action.

The puck hits the ice on Friday at 7:07 p.m. and Saturday at 6:07 p.m. Fans can tune into the action on Midco Sports Two, Midco Sports Plus or follow the live stats at GoAugie.com/Live.

Series History
Augustana and Colorado College have played a total of three times since the inaugural season in 2023-24. The Vikings hold a 3-0 record against the Tigers, with their most recent matchup resulting in a weekend sweep on the road.

The Tigers
Colorado College (8-7-3, 2-5-3 NCHC) comes into the second half of the season with eight wins on the season. Owen Beckner leads the Tigers with 16 points by way of six goals and 10 assists. Gavin Lindberg and Klas Veinbergs join Beckner with six goals each. 

Kaiden Mbereko has manned the pipes in 17 games this season and holds a record of 8-6-3. He has a goals against average of 2.44 and a save percentage of .913. 

The Vikings
Augustana (10-6-3, 6-4-3 CCHA) closed out the first half of the season with a split against Omaha. Leonid Bulgakov and Easton Young earned CCHA Player of the Week honors earlier this week. Bulgakov was named CCHA Rookie of the Week after he recorded three goals, while Young earned CCHA Defenseman of the Week honors with four assists. 

Bulgakov and Brett Meerman lead the Vikings with 16 points each. Freshman forward Jacob Jastrzebski rounds out the top three point getter with 14. 

Netminder Josh Kotai returns to the cage after spending his break in Davos, Switzerland, with the United States Collegiate Selects, where he helped them finish second in the Spengler Cup.
